2011 NYC Marathon

This past Sunday was the NYC Marathon and Tom's uncle was running the race for the first time.  We live about half a block from where the runners are so we had an early morning breakfast (see my recipe for Pumpkin Cream Cheese Filled muffins) with some family members before heading out to the sidewalk to wait to catch a glimpse of him running by.  I've been living in and around NYC for about six years now and this was the first time I've ever watched the runners.  It is pretty awe inspiring on several levels.  On one hand, the sheer magnitude of runners is so impressive. Then you also have those amazing runners that have any number of physical challenges.  In the hour we were outside we saw two men that were blind (they had a short strap attached to another runner and specific jerseys on) and several people with prosthetic limbs. It was just beautiful and it goes to show you truly can do most anything you put  your mind to.

Go John Go!  Look at how happy he was!!
